LES M. COUGHRAN  received both an undergraduate degree (magna cum laude) and his law degree from the University of Washington. While an undergraduate, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and also received a Mary Gates Research Training Grant for his research in the area of U.S. pension policy.

Les joined the firm in 2005 and became a principal in 2007. He started his career at a national actuarial consulting firm and previously practiced law at a large firm in Seattle. Les has significant experience in retirement plan design and administration and routinely evaluates QDROs for such plans. He also works with clients on their 401(k) plans.

Several clients, including Taft-Hartley health trusts and local governments, have retained Les to assist with their health reimbursement plans (HRAs). Les is a regular speaker at benefit plan conferences and has also developed training programs for third-party administrative firms.
